1. Who we are

This website is operated by Chennai Traders, a hardware and building-materials distributor serving wholesale and retail customers in Puducherry, India.

In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Chennai Traders. “You” means anyone who visits this website.

2. What this website does and does not do

We have designed this website to collect as little information as possible. At the date of this policy:

• the website has no contact form, account system, shopping cart or online payment, so it does not ask you to type personal information into the site, and it has no database of visitors;
• we do not run analytics, advertising or tracking tools on the website;
• the website’s own code does not set cookies and does not store information in your browser’s local or session storage;
• fonts, images and scripts are served from the website itself rather than from outside providers;
• the one third-party service that loads automatically is the Google Map on the Contact page, explained below.

3. Information we receive

When you contact us

The website links to our phone numbers, WhatsApp and Instagram. If you call, message or follow us through those channels, we receive whatever you choose to share, such as your name, phone number, the products you are asking about and the content of your message. Those services process your information under their own terms and privacy policies.

Technical information

When any website is visited, the server that hosts it normally receives technical data such as your IP address, browser type, device type, the pages requested and the date and time. Our website is hosted by a third-party web hosting provider, which may keep such server logs for security and operational purposes under its own policies. We do not use this information to identify individual visitors.

4. Google Maps and other third-party services

Google Maps (loads automatically). The Contact page contains an embedded Google Map showing our store. The map is loaded from Google when you open the Contact page (your browser may wait until the map scrolls into view). This means your browser connects directly to Google, which receives technical information such as your IP address, browser and device details, and the page you are viewing, and which may set or read cookies or similar identifiers on your device. We do not receive or control that information. Google handles it under Google’s Privacy Policy.

No other page on this website loads Google content. If you do not want your browser to connect to Google, you can avoid opening the Contact page or use your browser’s privacy settings or a content blocker; our address and map link are also listed in text on the rest of the website.

WhatsApp, Instagram and Google Maps links. The website contains links that open WhatsApp (including pre-written enquiry messages), our Instagram profile and Google Maps. These open services run by Meta, Google and other companies and are governed by their own privacy policies. Nothing is sent to them until you select a link.

We do not control third-party services, and this policy does not cover how they handle your information.

5. How we use information

When you contact us, we use the information you give us to:

• reply to your enquiry and tell you about products, availability and prices;
• prepare quotations, confirm orders and arrange collection or delivery where applicable;
• keep reasonable business records and meet legal, accounting and tax obligations; and

Enquiries made through WhatsApp, phone or Instagram are stored in those services and on the devices we use to run the business. We keep enquiry messages and business or order records only for as long as needed for the purposes above and as required by law. The website itself does not store enquiries or visitor information.

We take reasonable steps to protect the website and the information we hold. The website is built as a simple static site without databases or user accounts and is intended to be served over HTTPS. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Your choices and rights

Subject to applicable Indian law, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 where it applies to us, you may ask us to:

• tell you what personal information we hold about you;
• correct or update inaccurate information;
• erase information we no longer need to keep; and
• withdraw consent you have given us for a specific use of your information.
